Answers to Common Questions

I have a quick question!

Awesome. Do you also have a Twitter account? You can send it to @rdjfilmguide. Otherwise, keep scrolling.

I have a detailed, invasive or just plain weird personal question about Robert Downey Jr.

Real talk, this site is called RDJ Film Guide because it's meant to be about Robert Downey Jr's career, not his personal life, so the info below is all you're going to get from me.

• He was born at approximately 1:10 pm on April 4, 1965.

• He is 5'9" according to official legal, you know, arrest-related documents.

• He dated Sarah Jessica Parker for a long time. Then he married Deborah Falconer and they had a son (Indio) in 1993. Then they divorced. He married producer Susan Levin in 2005. They had a son (Exton) in 2012 and a daughter (Avri) in 2014.

• Robert Downey Jr is not gay and has never publicly claimed to be bisexual, but who am I to stop you from reading this 1999 interview where he talks about all his gay experiences.

• Yes, he really did serve time in prison. He spent 15 months in California state prison from 1999-2000, for drug possession and related offenses. He has been sober since 2003 and in 2015, the governor of California pardoned him for his 1996 convictions.

• If that's not enough info for you, either you suck at googling or you're probably a stalker.

Beware of fakes and frauds. If you find another account that isn't listed above and they are claiming to be Robert Downey Jr, his wife, his son or the Team Downey company, BE CAREFUL. Do not follow, interact or click links they post. It might be a scammer attempting to steal your identity or money. If you're not sure, check out the linktrees posted on the verified Instagram accounts for RDJ or Team Downey. That is where legit sweepstakes and giveaways will be posted.

I need you to pass along my message or info about my stupid product to Robert Downey Jr.

I've never met him, have no contact with him, anyone at his company or anyone close to him, and let's be honest, even I did, I probably still wouldn't pass along stuff from internet randos.

I want to make my own website and I'm thinking about stealing your content.

Well, don't do that. There's an entire universe of Robert Downey Jr photos, videos, memes, etc that aren't on this site and never will be, so there is no shortage of things you can put on your own site, tumblr or whatever, without stealing anything from here.

Dear Iron Man,

Okay that never actually happened but it would really make my day if it did.

So who is behind this site anyway?

I'm a writer in New York and obviously a (very longtime) fan of Robert Downey Jr. I started this site one summer when I was a teenager working at Blockbuster Video. I used my easy access to their vast VHS library to start reviewing every RDJ movie ever made and it just got way out of control from there.

Has this site really been around since 1999?

It all started with a GeoCities page in 1998, actually. The summer of 1999, I named the site "cqproject Robert Downey Jr site" and began building "The Ultimate Robert Downey Jr Video Guide" as part of that.

I renamed it to RDJ Film Guide in 2010, because the original name wasn't great and I wanted to keep the Film Guide going without doing all the other fan site crap that didn't interest me.

You can see some previous versions of the site below.

I have a comment/question/correction/legal threat to make about the site.

Wow, you made it all the way down here. Anyway, I bathe in your attention and let's be real, you don't make an 80+ page film guide without help from other fans. You can e-mail me. rdjfilmguide at gmail-dot-com.
